A prime dealership site has come onto the market in Cheltenham following Group 1 Automotive’s decision to close the former Volkswagen franchise point.

In March, US-based Group 1 Automotive announced plans to close its Volkswagen sites in Cheltenham and Wirral, as well as its Audi Approved site in Hyde, citing "ongoing challenges presented by the current economic climate."

Group 1 has been restructuring its UK business since its £346 million deal to acquire Inchcape's UK dealerships in April 2024 which will lead to the loss of some 370 jobs.

The site, previously occupied by Inchcape, is located at the junction of Tewkesbury Road and Colletts Drive and is now being marketed by Latitude Real Estate on behalf of Altitude Asset Management.

The former Inchcape site spans 1.54 acres and offers 18,562 sq ft of space, including a ground floor showroom, first-floor offices, and staff facilities. It occupies a prominent location opposite a Tesco petrol station and supermarket, and near a Wickes DIY store.

According to Latitude, the site benefits from high visibility, with an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 vehicles passing by each day.
