We have a exciting opportunity to join Aston Barclay as Group Auctioneer. The role reports into the Head of Vehicle Sales and involves regular business travel to attend sales across each of our 6 sites (a company car is provided). Although you must be able to travel to all sites, this role will predominately cover the north of England.

Principle Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake rostrum duties across all sites in both physical and digital channels as required.
  • Maximise sales, conversion rates and sale values of all vehicles as required (whether under hammer, pre-sales, provisional or specials).
  • Undertake special sales of vehicles as required (e-live events and special events).
  • At all times conduct sales in a professional and effective manner following company policy.
  • Provide support to internal & external clients & stakeholders.
  • Develop & maintain the customer pipeline.

Duties include:

  • Take responsibility for organising the auction & managing the bidding & sale day processes across the centres.
  • Carry out vehicle valuations to ensure the vehicle values are fully understood to maximise profit for the Company.
  • Carry out checks of catalogues.
  • Generate proxy bids across all sales.
  • Generate post-sale reports.
  • Convert provisional bids & not-solds after the sale.
  • Provide customers with accurate advice regarding the Company’s products, acting as an expert point of contact for all product related queries.
  • Build & maintain ongoing relationships with customers.
  • Aid Auction Centre Managers with dispute resolution.
  • Assist with buyer & vendor entertainment.
  • Carry out meet & greets with buyers & vendors on sale days.
  • Encourage & nurture strong working relationships between all clients & stakeholders.
  • Provide customers with accurate advice regarding the Company’s products, acting as an expert point of contact for all product related queries.
  • Build & maintain ongoing relationships with customers.
  • Aid Auction Centre Managers with dispute resolution.
  • Assist with buyer & vendor entertainment.
  • Carry out meet & greets with buyers & vendors on sale days.
  • Encourage & nurture strong working relationships between all clients & stakeholders.
  • Promote the auctioneering operation with existing & potential customers, in-line with Company values, strategies, policies & procedures.
  • Develop new & potential customers through networking, courtesy & follow-up calls.
  • Contact the agreed buyer portfolio on a regular basis.
  • Gain new customers & maintain the continued loyalty of existing ones.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of auctioneering in the Motor Trade.
  • Ability to monitor current market conditions.
  • Ability to remain well-informed of current makes and models of cars.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to promote the company and identify new business development opportunities.

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
