Purpose of the role
The purpose of the SMC Retailer Associate is to increase used car purchases by supporting both our group used car department and the retailers themselves.
You will facilitate the consistent and accurate appraisal of all purchase opportunities. Increasing the volume of purchases and subsequent profit margin of our expanding Sell My Car purchasing platform.
The candidate will need excellent communication skills, with an ability to communicate on a daily basis with customers, empathise with their needs and ultimately purchase their vehicle, offering a fantastic level of service synonymous with the Inchcape experience.
Job Responsibilities
Purchase used car stock via sell my car and site opportunities
Maintain accurate records of prospects and details of any offers made in approved Inchcape system as required.
Record in iPortal all vehicles appraised, Including valuations, estimated preparation costs including cosmetics
Appraise, verify and negotiate the purchase of cars
Check, inspect and test incoming stock and complete appropriate paperwork, by following the Inchcape documented procedures.
Comply with the group sales process while purchasing any vehicle
Work with the dealership in completing on site appraisals as required
Follow up vehicle offered but not purchase both by Sell my car and dealership opportunities
Work directly with the Group used car team central function
Manage appointments and leads supplied via the website and other channels
Liaise with other sites around the group on vehicle specifications and known common issues and faults
The ideal candidate
A full driving licence is essential
Previous experience in the used car market would be an advantage, so you have a good base on which to expand your knowledge and skills
You must have excellent communication skills both in person and on the telephone
Strong negotiating skills, along with sound business acumen
Competent using MS office packages
Smart appearance
Excellent time management
Understanding of th used car market and current market trends
Work part of a team
A knowledge of cosmetics and mechanical items would be an advantage
