Role Purpose:
Vehicle Technician must be an all-rounder who can perform a full range of tasks on vehicle re-works. The ideal candidate must be able to adapt to various job tasks, e.g. removal and refit, removal and refitting of interior trims, light mechanical work and general modifications to original vehicle build, exterior trim work and minor mechanical / electrical work.
Core Responsibilities:
- Various tasks on Vehicle Re-works: Fit and strip both mechanical and body parts from vehicles including body panel, interiors, gear boxes etc. as well as remove engines, and suspensions
- Accessing and removing damaged components
- Replacing Components
- Logging all repairs either manually or on a digital data system, detailing the work done
- To perform all work assigned in a timely manner, economically and to Manufacturer's standards
- Carry out work within a realistic time, be this time either manufacturers, locally negotiated or a combination of both or by agreed schedules of work
- To record all times and attendance hours to facilitate payment
General Responsibilities:
- Complying with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post; wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate
- To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
- Ensure that the work area and tools are kept clean, tidy and maintained
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times
- To carry out any other duties as required
Skills/Aptitudes:
- Must be practically and mechanically oriented
- General understanding of light mechanical knowledge is essential
- Experienced in stripping and fitting a wide range of vehicles
- Must be able to think logically and clearly
- Must have self-discipline
- Must be psychologically and medically fit
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Must be safety conscious, to avoid unnecessary accidents
- Must care about the quality of work to be done and have customer satisfaction in mind
- Flexibility to work shift patterns, overtime, weekends to achieve production
- Can speak, read and write English language
- Flexible approach to working location as may be asked to provide support at other sites in the UK and overseas
- Forward thinking, readily adaptable, accurate with a desire for quality
- Ability to work under pressure and work to very high and demanding standards
Qualifications and Experience:
- Level 3 City and Guilds / IMIA / BTEC / NVQ / Edexel in Light Motor Vehicle Maintenance or similar
- Time served apprentice
- Experience working on components of modern light motor vehicles
- A full category "B" driving licence is essential
- Experience in an automotive environment is essential
- Must have own range of Mechanical tools
