Role: Mechanical / Workshop Manager

Location: Corby (Baird Road)

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00-17:00

This is our newest opportunity to join a successful and high volume workshop team at BCA Corby as a Mechanical / Workshop Manager. Within this role, you would be overseeing the technical workshop with the support from team leaders who would be reporting directly to you.

Our workshop currently employs 40+ workshop technicians, inspectors, MOT testers & master technicians, but we are constantly growing and so will your team!

An ideal candidate for this role will have a previous experience of working within a workshop environment and will have supervisory or managerial experience. Because of this, you will understand the day-to-day operations of the workshop and will be able to lead, manage and motivate your team to achieve the targets.

Main responsibilities: 

  • Manage the team- Managing and motivating a team of 40+ workshop staff, reviewing daily tasks and ensuring that the team meets the targets and KPI’s whilst completing the work required to the highest standards
  • Processes – reviewing current processes and implementation of new ones required for the department
  • Forecasting and Budgeting- Control workshops’ budget, forecasting and operational targets
  • Reporting- Complete daily reports for the Operations and Site Managers
  • H&S- Ensure that your team complies with our Health & Safety regulations
  • Recruitment Support- Work together with the recruitment team to hire the best candidates by reviewing applications, interviewing and overseeing skill tests of potential new starters
  • HR support- Manage staff meetings, absences, holidays and review staff performance

Skills and experience required: 

  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Previous workshop experience (minimum 3 years)
  • Qualified to City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (essential)
  • Qualified as a MOT Tester (desirable)
  • Own a Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office- Outlook and Excel
  • Experienced in Financial Management would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills
