##Volvo--right##It has been a tough 12 months for Volvo dealers. Despite having a well established market area approach, and having gone through the agonies of cutting back the network, profit is still hard to find. The number of dealership owners has fallen again but has now levelled off. Margins are tight, competition is tough and some smaller dealerships, notably in the West Midlands, have been unable to cope. The ageing V70 estate will be replaced this year and should revitalise sales which are level - estates take 50% of sales volume. But some dealers would prefer to see more competitive pricing of the mainstream S40 and V40 models.
