Internet start-up Service4cars.com claims motorists will save up to 25% when booking a service with a franchised dealer through an online service which will also reduce unused workshop capacity.
The principle is similar to the last minute discount purchase of an unsold holiday or theatre ticket. Service4cars directs car service work to franchised dealers at discount rates.
Duncan Berriman, Service4cars managing director, said: “We offer dealers the chance to sell every available workshop hour.”
Dealers without internet access can use the system via a central support team which directs motorists' website requests.
