The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) is developing a national approved repairer agreement for the insurance and car body repair industries following discussions with the Association of British Insurers.

Bob Hood, director of the RMI Bodyshop Services Division, believes the agreement will represent a major step forward in the relationship between bodyshops and insurers. “This is a platform for dialogue, where relationships between the UK's leading accident repair specialists and work providers may be developed in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect,” he said.

“I am convinced that over a period of time, barriers will fall. Bodyshops and insurers simply must work together for the benefit of mutual customers.”

The RMI is now producing a draft agreement for insurers to consider.
