Ford has completed the recall of about 200 new Mondeos which had been delivered to its UK dealers as demonstrators.

A routine check of a car being prepared for Ford's press fleet revealed that a side airbag could missfire. A total of 2,500 cars, including the UK consignment, had to be recalled for the 10-minute correction of the fault.

A Ford spokesman said the recall had not affected supply of the new car. "We nipped this problem in the bud and the problem has not affected the launch programme for the new Mondeo."
