Jaguar will build the new F-type at its Coventry plant, according to a company source at the Los Angeles show where it was unveiled.

Production of the car - revealed as a concept last January - starts in 2004 and it will rival the Porsche Boxster in price, say insiders. The F-type will be built on an all-new platform.

Jonathan Browning, Jaguar managing director, said the F-type was most likely to be built in the UK "but not necessarily".
