LeasePlan has been declared the largest contract hire and leasing company in the UK. It tops the 2001 FN50, launched last night by AM's sister title Fleet News at a dinner at London's Café Royal.

Topping the list with a fleet of 120,000 vehicles, LeasePlan took the top spot for the second year running, beating Lex Vehicle Leasing, which topped the FN50 in 1999, into second place with 92,577 vehicles. Lloyds TSB Autolease is at number three with 86,433.

Kevin McNally, LeasePlan commercial director, said: “If you are a major business in the UK and thinking of changing your fleet policy you will talk to the major leasing companies. Size gives us the breadth of experience to satisfy any funding need.”

Research by Fleet News reveals that contract hire fleets of the FN50 companies account for 1,326,356 vehicles, or 75% of the available fleet funding market.
