Nexus Business Solutions has launched two online vehicle disposal programmes that it claims will cut costs and help improve residuals by bypassing the traditional physical auction route to market.

Auctron Bid, an online live auction facility, and Auctron Find, a b2b vehicle locator and tendering system, are designed to help fleets cut costs and enable dealers to buy cars via the internet 24 hours a day. Vehicles are posted on Auctron Find with inspection reports, photos and Cap valuations.

AutoCascade, the pan-European remarketing joint venture set up in September by Inchcape and Avis Europe, has signed up to the service. The company expects to save time and costs in managing the vehicle disposal process for its manufacturer and rental/leasing clients.

Bill Hetherington, Nexus UK business manager, said: “There are so many facets to our new products that they make other, legacy-based auction and locator systems seem cumbersome and complex for the user.

“The flexibility built into the system meets the requirements of a wide range of customers. We can rebrand their choice of package to suit their needs.”

Nexus expects to be selling “tens of thousands of cars” via Auctron next year. It is in talks to sign up two large dealer groups and several daily rental companies. A spokesman said: “Cost depends on usage – the more the service is used, the more the customer pays. It has been tailor made for one-off users and frequent users.” The system, launched initially to the UK market, is likely to be expanded worldwide.
