Hyundai is pulling out of the UK fleet van market. The manufacturer is to stop selling its H100 van in Britain at the end of the year.

The model is being given a facelift but will continue to be sold in other markets such as Korea and mainland Europe.

But the new van will not be sold in the UK because of low sales of the existing model and Hyundai's desire to focus on its nine-car model range.

Hyundai sold 567 H100s in the year to date October 2001, but 795 in the same period in 2000. However, a manufacturer spokesman did not rule out a return to the fleet van market in 2003 with the new-look H200.

He said: "When it comes to the van market we want to do it properly. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to do it properly right now. But we will look at the situation again in 2003." (December 20, 2001)
