The new Fiat Doblo Cargo van is now on sale in the UK as successor to the Fiorino van.

Fiat says the new vehicle has a bigger payload capacity (625kg) than competitor the Citroen Berlingo and beats this and the Renault Kangoo for "load accessibility from both side and rear doors".

Loading deck height is lower than the Berlingo at 535mm and width between the wheelarches, at 1,200mm, is more than both the Berlingo and Kangoo. The Doblo's turning circle at 10.5m is also better than that of the Berlingo.

Basic price of the Doblo is £7,995 for the 1.2-litre petrol version and £8,250 for the 1.9-litre direct injection diesel.

A high-roofed version with a load space of 3.8 cubic metres, as opposed to the standard 3.2 cubic metres, is expected in the UK in autumn.

A driver's airbag in standard and there are optional airbags or the passenger and on each side of the seats. Fiat's fire prevention system, which cuts off the fuel supply to the engine in an impact, is also standard. Security features include the Fiat CODE engine immobiliser and window etching.
