Randles Garages has acquired rival Suzuki dealer Percy Tait for an undisclosed sum, following the retirement of owners Percy and Di Tait.

The move, which adds three outlets to Randles' Newcastle-under-Lyme site in Staffs, makes the group one of the largest UK Suzuki dealerships.

Philip Wade, Randles group managing director, said: “This is an exciting opportunity. We expect to sell 1,300 new and 900 used vehicles this year with much more growth planned.”

Suzuki is looking to take 2% of the UK market, with medium-term targets of 40,000 sales a year. Last year it sold 24,685 cars – an 1.11% share.

“Suzuki is the biggest retailer of smaller vehicles in the world and has several new models due to be launched soon,” said Mr Wade.

The three outlets will continue to trade as Percy Tait for a 12-month transitional period, before being rebranded Randles.
