Kia Cars UK plans to double market share to 1% within three years by launching more competitively priced cars.

Registrations rose 80% last year to 11,523 units (0.52% market share) on the back of the Sedona MPV and 0% finance.

The manufacturer will launch the lower-medium Mentor saloon (from £8,995), and flagship Magentis (starting below £13,000) next month. The Rio hatchback will be available later in the year, with a 4x4 planned for 2002.

Mark Quinn, Kia UK managing director, said: “We will then be pushing towards 1% of the market.”
