Toyota has awarded the achievements of its trainees in its apprentice of the year competition.

The event, for technical and parts apprentices, was hosted by Toyota at its national apprentice training centre at technical services provider EMTEC's Nottingham training facility.

The 30 competitors were the UK's top trainees in terms of performance and conduct from each year of the Toyota Modern Apprenticeship Scheme.

The award winners were:
1st Year Apprentices of the Year: technical – Ben McAllister; parts – Shaun Barlow
2nd Year Apprentices of the Year: technical – Ian Mackay; parts – Russell Tomlinson
3rd Year Apprentices of the Year: technician – Marc Binnie; parts – Ian Elvin.

The overall Technical Apprentice of the Year was Christian Paschina who works for McCarthy Toyota in Croydon. The Parts Apprentice of the Year was Peter Mellor, who works for TG Holdcroft Toyota in Stoke on Trent.
