Lex Service has reported pre-tax profits up 125%, from £19.3m to £43.4m, for the six months to June 30, after a strong contribution from its RAC roadside recovery business. Andy Harrison, Lex chief executive, said: “Our profit growth confirms the benefits of Lex's transformation into a strong service business built around the RAC and Lex brands. RAC's position has been strengthened by the acquisition of Auto Windscreens and Lex has continued to win substantial vehicle outsourcing contracts.” The RAC contributed £17.7m to pre-tax profits, helped by £4.3m from Auto Windscreens. Mr Harrison forecasts a strong second half to 2001 as Lex grows its revenue base.
