Ford in North and South America has recalled 572,795 Focus cars due to concerns over a faulty battery cable. The carmaker says the fault could be linked to engine fires.

The cars in question were 2000 and 2001 models sold mostly in the US - but also in Canada, Mexico and other countries. The company says a bolt in the front suspension could loosen - at best causing noise and vibration. At worst causing the ball joint to separate.
