Rover's China Brilliance deal on the rocks?

Industry sources are warning of a possible collapse of MG Rover's joint venture with China Brilliance. The threat comes following Brilliance founder Yang Rong's brisk departure from the country in June amid possible investigation of “economic crimes” by the Chinese Government. In Rong's absence, it is now believed that the Chinese carmaker may well be looking to cut down on its commitments - it already has joint venture deals with BMW, General Motors and Toyota. But MG Rover officials are still holding onto hope that their deal with China Brilliance will go ahead.
