The Ford Puma and Vauxhall Tigra redefined the mini-coupe in the mid-90s. Both were based on superminis (Fiesta and Corsa) with sexier styling and tweaked handling. Tigra is the older design and is not as much fun to drive as Puma, but it's good value - as low as £4,000 for an M-reg 1.4i 16v. It's now obsolete, and a 5,000-mile 01Y 1.6i 16v is around £11,000. Puma starts at £6,500 for an 97R 1.7i; a 98S 1.4i is about £8,500; a 7,000-mile 00W 1.7i makes about £12,000 at a Ford dealer.
