Maranello spends £1m on new service centre

Maranello Sales, the Ferrari and Maserati retail division of Maranello Concessionaires, is set to open the world's largest service centre for the Italian sportscar marques.

The company is transferring its servicing operations from Tower Garage in Egham, Surrey - a Grade II listed building - to a new £1m purpose-built facility just down the road at Thorpe Industrial Park.

The centre will be the only service point in the UK authorised to maintain the F45, F50 and Enzo models. And because it is linked directly to the global classic parts supply operation of Ferrari UK and Maserati UK, the site will be able to service older models.

A crucial feature will be the Maranello bodyshop, which can repair aluminium and carbon-fibre composite chassis and bodywork, as well as steel-bodied vehicles. Paul Burrows, Maranello Sales general manager, says the new centre is the result of a six-month programme to create a state-of-the-art facility.

“As part of our 10-year plan, we have invested more than £1m in the centre and recruited additional technicians for our workshop team,” he says. “The new centre allows us to bring together all our pre-delivery work, servicing and motor sport activities under one roof to offer our customers a faster, more flexible service.”

Keith Wilson has been appointed aftersales manager, leading a 30-strong team of technicians.

The 2000 sq.m site has a total of 38 work bays, including 24 servicing bays, four PDI bays, five electronic bays, two special diagnostic bays, one general bay and a dedicated tyre- fitting zone. There are two road test bays as well as a dedicated gearbox and transmission workshop.
