An internet-based service to identify, source and order replacement glass for every car available in the UK since 1945 has been launched with backing from Autoglass.

Glasplus.com took a year to develop and is designed to help windscreen fitters pinpoint correct glass codes and fittings for specific models. By entering the customer's car registration, glass repairers can also check policy details from a number of associated insurers.

Jeff Boekstein, former Autoglass sales director and now managing director at Glasplus.com, says: “The concept behind this is to save time in sourcing replacement screens and to provide a more accurate system for checking insurance cover.

The service features a product sourcing option to track suppliers, ascertain stock availability and provide online quotes. Invoices can be sent electronically to insurers, the final element in what Boekstein describes as the simple process of “find it, check it, buy it, bill it”. Fitters are able to receive insurance details in SMS text format.
