The Energy Saving Trust's PowerShift and CleanUp initiatives have funded over 3,300 vehicles in the current financial year, and this should increase to around 8,000 by end of March 2004, compared to last year when 5,000 vehicles received funding. As a result current commitments plus those in the pipeline mean all funds have been allocated for this financial year.

Tim Curtis, Director of Operations said, “PowerShift and CleanUp have been a resounding success generating a significant increase in demand for grants. EST is delighted to announce that the Department for Transport has confirmed funding for both programmes for the 2004/5 financial year.

“Following this success EST has been talking to the Department for Transport to see whether more funds could be made available. However, Government funding is limited and additional funding isn't available at this time. EST is therefore putting new grant applications onto a waiting list.”
