ReMIT, the RMI's technician training arm, has welcomed the Chancellor's pre-Budget announcement of the extension of skills training allowances for high skills training (allowances were previously only available for low skills training)

Stephen Ramsay, ReMIT managing director said, “ReMIT welcomes the proposed extension of skills training funding to enhance the skills of those with no or low skills, particularly if it is backed up by real additional funding. ReMIT already arranges training in the sector for 7,000 young people each year, and with the extension we might be able to train many more. This decision is a sign of sensible judgment by Government, and we hope it will be further extended in the coming years, and help address some of the skills shortages in the retail motor sector.”
