MG Rover Christmas shut-down starts three days early on 16 December

Following a suspension of car production for three days in November, MG Rover is halting output for a Christmas shutdown three days earlier than planned. Production workers are to be reassigned to stock-taking.

A BBC report quoted Tony Parr, managing director of AP Smith, one of MG Rover's suppliers, as saying the early closure was "fairly worrying", but he added that “the management of MG Rover had improved recently”.
