Guildford-based BMW retailer, Vines, is investing £15 million in a major revamp of its showrooms, along with the relocation of its Redhill and Crawley sites.

The showroom at the main Guildford site will be redesigned to bring it in line with the new BMW corporate image. As with the other two sites, Vines is building a dedicated showroom for its Mini range and increasing workshop space.

Next year, the Crawley dealership is to be moved to a 2.6-acre site with a new 35,000 sq ft showroom. The Redhill outlet is also relocating to a two-acre site opposite its existing showroom.

Vines – also the biggest BMW motorcycle dealer in the UK – employs 225 staff and has an annual turnover of £90m. It expects to grow new car sales while the extra space will enable it to increase its used car business, which accounts for approximately a third of all cars sold. It will also be taking on another 10 to 15 staff.

Chief executive John Tenner comments: “The physical expansion of our sites will enable us to increase car sales. With Mini getting its own showroom and more space for used cars, we are confident our turnover will exceed £100m before too long.”
