Phoenix Distribution Limited., a newly created subsidiary of MG Rover owner Phoenix Venture Holdings has today launched the Indian-built Tata range of utility vehicles consisting of the Safari SUV and TL single and double cab pick-ups.

The Safari will be targeted at retail customers with a penchant for outdoor activities, small businesses, farmers and the construction industry. A solid and robust form of transport, the Tata Safari is available at a most advantageous price.

The four Tata TL models previously imported by Motor Vehicle Imports will compete against pick-ups from Mazda, Mitsubishi, Ford, Toyota and Nissan in a sector which in 2002 accounted for almost 12,000 vehicles.

The Tata utility range will be sold through a new network of 50 Phoenix Distribution dealers, principally as a secondary franchise for existing MG Rover outlets. Dealership wholesale and retail financial facilities will be supplied through Capital Bank Motor - HBOS Group, whereas dealer finance for MG Rover has hitherto been supplied via First National Motor Finance. Phoenix's parts supply chain to MG Rover dealers via XPart and CAT Logistics will also supply the Tata outlets.
