Bosch has added a new range of batteries, designed specially for Asian cars and car-based LCVs, to its 'Silver' battery series.

Utilising its calcium-silver alloy technology, Bosch has designed the new 100% maintenance-free AsiaSILVER range to meet the stringent Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) and offer enhanced performance, durability, safety and functionality compared with more traditional JIS lead acid batteries.

The 14 part numbers provide comprehensive coverage of almost all Japanese and Korean cars and van derivatives on sale in the UK. The AsiaSILVER range incorporates the same tried and tested performance features of the Bosch Silver range, which has now been available in the UK aftermarket for the past 6 years.

The use of the calcium-silver alloy in all Bosch batteries results in greater resistance to extreme temperatures in the engine bay for a guaranteed constant supply of power to the car's electrical system. Further advantages are low self-discharge and reliable starting, even after years of use.

Safety has also been a paramount consideration with the design of the new range. A labyrinth lid with integral flame separators offers far higher safety levels than any other JIS products previously available in the UK.

In addition, all 14 batteries in the range from the smallest '054' size have integral handles for safer carrying and fitting and incorporate the 'Power Control System', offering a quick and convenient visual indication of the battery's state of charge.

Power ratings range from 40A/h up to 95A/h, with the most powerful version vibration proof for use in 4x4 off-road vehicles. AsiaSILVER has a 20% longer service life than traditional JIS-type batteries and an 18 month shelf life.
