Dana Corporation has named Michael J. Burns chief executive officer, president and a director of the company. Burns, who has been President of General Motors Europe since 1998, succeeds the late Joe Magliochetti, who died in September 2003.

Mr. Burns' appointments will be effective from March 1, but his successor at GM Europe, Fritz Henderson, who has been president of GM Asia Pacific since January 2002, will not replace Burns until June 1. Until then Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman of product development, will serve as acting as president.

Bill Carroll, who has served as Dana's Acting President and COO since September, will retire from Dana when Michael Burns takes up his post. - Under Magliochetti, and then Carroll, Dana last year saw off a hostile take-over bid by ARvinMeritor.
