A new parts programme for vans is being launched this month by one of the UK's biggest motor factors, the Factoring Services Group.

It is aimed at helping both car and light commercial vehicle distributors to make the most of this growing sector.

Last year, UK van registrations hit a record high with sales of 303,755 units. The previous record volume was in 1989, when 298,836 light commercials were sold.

FSG says the new programme, which has been put together in the wake of changes to block exemption, will help independent aftermarket distributors make headway in a market traditionally dominated by vehicle manufacturers.

Carolyn Andrew, FSG's G-truck services manager, says the new light commercials programme is designed to complement their existing car and LCV parts programme providing added value to distributors and suppliers.

“We are sure that light commercial vehicles are set to become an important focal point for the aftermarket and, by being proactive, we can help ensure that Factoring Services Group distributors are well prepared,” says Andrew.

FSG has not ruled out bringing in new suppliers for specialist parts.
