Ford has been voted as being the most difficult car manufacturer to work with by its parts suppliers in a survey by SupplierBusiness.com.

The website has surveyed the opinions of suppliers on six OEM’S, Volskwagen, Renault-Nissan, BMW, General Motors, PSA Peugeot-Citroën and Ford.

The survey describes Ford supplier satisfaction as “the worst response received so far” with the carmaker judged as the most unpopular customer of all the companies.

Ford was particularly criticised for its lack of willingness to reward cost saving ideas and the level of trust it inspires as a commercial partner.

The French suppliers will get a chance to vent their views to Ford executives at a specially organised meeting by FIEV, (Fédération des Industries des Equipments pour Véhicules) a French suppliers’ organisation on July 9.

Jacques Monnet, executive director of FIEV, says suppliers are especially concerned about language involving intellectual property rights, and Ford's insistence that it can show supplier drawings to competitors.
