Fair Fleet, Fair Pay Charter
The relationship between dealers and fleets can work well and benefit both companies: at other times, it proves to be disastrous. Most of the problems are caused by a lack of understanding of the pressures on the business partner.

AM wants dealers and fleets to sign up to a Fair Fleet, Fair Pay Charter, which is intended as a framework for a better understanding. The starting point is an appreciation of the objectives of the two sectors:

FLEET DEMANDS
1 Immediate attention to cars needing repairs because staff without transport are liability
2 Keen price, based on the certainty of regular work to create a good flow in workshops
3 Improved workshop standards and more flexibility
DEALER RESPONSES
1 Fleets to understand that, for many, retail customers are in the majority and cannot be pushed aside

2 A fair price; provision of the promised throughput of vehicles; understanding that retail bookings can’t be cancelled; and prompt payment

3 Better communication on when cars need servicing
