Ssangyong has launched its new Rexton, priced at £17,499 on-the-road for the five door SUV.

The 2.9 litre turbocharged diesel engine option produces 118bhp at 4,000 rpm and 25.5 kgm of torque at 2,400 rpm. Top speed is 98 mph, CO2 emissions are 244 g/km and combined fuel consumption is a 30.4 mpg.

The Rexton is equipped with part-time 4WD and can tow 3.5 tonnes.

Driver and passenger airbags are standard while other safety features include shock absorbing rear bumpers and seatbelts with front pre-tensioners.

Options include factory-fitted sidesteps, retractable load cover and a load liner and tow bar.

All Rexton models come with three years or 60,000 miles warranty, whichever comes first, a three year unlimited mileage paint finish warranty and six year anti-corrosion warranty. Service intervals for the 290 diesel range are every six months or 6,000 miles. Insurance groups have been set at 11A.
