Eight months since its launch in January the Mazda3 has experienced a sales boom with over 5,000 units sold year-to-date. Sales increased with the addition of the 1.6-litre 107bhp diesel model and a stylish four-door saloon bodystyle to the Mazda3 range from June.

In the next few months the higher specification Mazda3 TS2 models will also be available on diesel models giving a broader choice to customers. Equipment such as climate control air conditioning and six-disc CD autochanger are included, while standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control (TC) are also added to the specification.

Mazda6 leads the sales for July with over 1,300 registrations. Mazda3 sales reached over 600 units for July while Mazda RX-8 and Mazda MX-5 sales have reached around 480 units.

Mazda total passenger car sales for July were 3,385 bringing the total sales so far this year up to almost 30,000 units – approximately the same number sold in the whole of 2002.
