Richard Lawson Auto Logistics has been placed in administration.

The Dundee-based vehicle transport company, owned by Norwegian global transport and shipping group Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines, operates 22 sites in the UK and last year achieved sales of over £40m.

Joint administrator, Bruce Cartwright, of PricewaterhouseCoopers, said Richard Lawson "had experienced difficult trading conditions during a prolonged period in which the UK inland transportation market has remained weak".

He added that no redundancies were expected at this stage. The firm employs about 500 staff.
