Vauxhall is aiming to quadruple its clutch sales to the UK aftermarket in the next 12 months with the launch of a range of 46 new clutch kits for cars and vans through Vauxhall Trade Club.

The product launch is being supported by a mail-out to over 53,000 Trade Club members. In addition to the clutches, 14 cambelt kits have been added to the parts marketing programme.

“We came from a background of fitting remanufactured parts to older models,” says Jim Williams, Vauxhall Trade Club programme manager. “We recognized that the competition had moved away from re-manufactured parts to new parts and our market share was dropping away.”

Williams is keen to push the benefits of their complete, three-part kits, recognizing that workshops want reassurance about the quality of the kits fitted.

Parts prices remain competitive. For example, a re-manufactured clutch for a 1.2 Corsa cost a Trade Club member £59.80 ex VAT, while the new kit costs £55 ex VAT.

Clutch kits are warranted against manufacturing and material defects for two years’ unlimited mileage.

Cam belt kits have a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty.

This compliments Vauxhall’s expanded exhaust system, radiator, brake discs and brake pad ranges, as detailed in this issue’s Autotrade section.
