The fake email has the subject line “Auto Trader Security Check – Do Not Delete” and falsely claims the customer’s email address and password need confirmation. If provided with the details, the scammers are able to place fraudulent adverts, says Auto Trader. It stresses customers will never be genuinely asked to reveal their password.

Autotrader.co.uk has contacted its customers to warn of a scam email which requests recipients to give away their password.
