Staff at a Welsh components plant could be putting them- selves out of work by failing to accept new employment terms and conditions.

The future of the Calsonic plant in Llanelli, which makes air conditioning units and employs 900, hangs in the balance after a staff ballot.

Workers claim they could lose £50-£130 per month if they accept the new contracts, and have warned they will strike if the changes are brought in without consent.

Calsonic European president David Pallas says non-acceptance of the proposals could spell the facility’s demise. “Employees were informed a failure to accept the latest proposals would inevitably lead to the closure of the Llanelli plant,” he adds.
