BMW and BCA expand online link-up

BMW’s ‘special sales’ programme will allow internet bidders to compete against buyers in the auction hall next year, by utilising BCA’s ‘Live Online’ service.

Buyers will be able to use the new enhancement at BMW auctions at Nottingham and Brighouse.

BMW Group’s auction manager, Jeremy Raggett, said: “By giving dealer-based buyers the opportunity to bid against those in the auction hall, we hope to generate even more buying power for our cars.

“We received excellent feedback from the buyers who participated and purchased BMW Group cars in 2005. With our commitment to BCA and Live Online in 2006, we expect the interest to grow from both independent retailers and the BMW dealer network.”

BCA Live Online uses web browser technology to deliver live video and real time audio to remote bidders. The system has been developed in-house by BCA and uses vehicle information screens in the auction hall to display online bids.

BCA will announce the full programme of sales for BMW in 2006 later in the year.
