The next generation Sedona MPV goes on sale in July, and Kia dealers could be asked to sell a nine-seater version.

The car is the long wheelbase variant, and UK bosses are in talks with Korean HQ about offering it here. But will there be room in showrooms for the standard seven-chair model and the LWB variant, as well as the rest of the model range?

A company spokesman says: “We wouldn’t expect them to have both in the showroom, and it may be that it would be an ‘order car’ only.”

If it comes to the UK, the LWB car could be specced as a seven-seater with more space for occupants and extra luggage room, or as a nine-seater. No other people carrier currently available can accommodate so many people.

“We think this might give us an advantage in this segment,” adds the spokesman.

The revamped Sedona will make its debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show.

A decision on which versions will be sold in Britain will be made soon after.
