Around 130 dealers who were part of the MG Rover network are still waiting for confirmation from Nanjing Automotive on whether production is to restart at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham.

The manufacturer’s dealer network stood at 254 prior to its collapse earlier this year, but since then half have either closed their doors or re-franchised.

“Nanjing has not contacted any dealers. They haven’t actually got a factory yet and nothing is being built,” says dealer council chairman Richard Cort.

Dealers have been given an extra 12 months to sell 5,000 Euro III compliant new MG Rover models before Euro IV emissions rules come into force next year.
