Ferrari is forecasting sales of more than 5,000 units this year, a new record for the Fiat-owned firm.

"The sales are the result of a year of hard work in which we have had a strong push on product renewal," Ferrari deputy managing director Amedeo Felisa said at the Bologna Motor Show.

Felisa said one of Ferrari's most popular models, the 612 Scaglietti, had sold a record 650 units this year.

Ferrari sold a total of 4,900 cars last year.
