Land Rover’s technician apprenticeship programme has been commended by the Learning and Skills Council following a record intake of 430 apprentices.

The scheme teaches apprentices from the carmaker’s 174-strong franchised network and provides them with training at its Gaydon headquarters or Halewood’s Jaguar production facility. Each attends NVQ block release courses over a three-year period.

Land Rover has pledged to recruit 100 apprentices a year.
