EMTEC’s first large-scale advanced apprenticeship programme for bodyshops has been launched in conjunction with the ABS body repair network.

The scheme is aiming to recruit 80 new students, and transfer 100 from ABS bodyshops’ individual apprenticeship providers. ABS expects 75% of its 240-strong network to sign up for the deal.

“This is EMTEC’s first major advanced apprenticeship programme for the bodyshop industry and we are very pleased to be working alongside ABS,” says Andy Moore, EMTEC director. The company already runs small scale advanced bodyshop apprenticeship schemes with a number of carmakers.

Recruitment advisors will meet directly with ABS repairers to discuss the programme, supported by a range of marketing activities.

Research has identified a number of areas of concern for repairers, including location of training centres, costs, finding time to monitor apprentices’ progress and attracting the right recruits.

EMTEC will be working closely with the repairers to tackle these problems, even carrying out initial interviews with recruits and their parents.
