Trafficmaster, traffic information and navigation provider, yesterday announced turnover up 19.7% to £36.6m and pre-tax profits of £4.8m in the year ended December 31.

Group operating profit from continuing operations was £2.4m (2003: £2.6m including £2.1m net exceptional credits).

The pre-tax figures included a £2.3m net gain on early redemption of Teletrac bonds.

The company said it had benefited from strong consumer take-up of Smartnav, whose unit sales trebled last year to 27,600 units. Smartnav is now standard equipment on 11 new cars.
