The police have gained new powers to seize cars used by so-called ‘boy racers’.

The powers, under the Anti-social Behaviour Act, enable police to stop, seize and remove vehicles whose use is causing "alarm, distress or annoyance" to the public.

Offenders will have their vehicle seized - for at least a week - be given a £105 fine, plus have to pay £12 for each day the vehicle is impounded.
