Dealers are able to remarket surplus and non-required used car stock faster at auction than fleets and manufacturers, according to new research.

The Manheim Market Analysis survey of the first quarter of 2005 show dealers are following an aggressive liquidation policy. The average age of dealer part-exchanges sold by Manheim’s auction houses is 86 months with 70,832 miles.

The study covered more than 500,000 cars sold during the past 24 months. Full report in the next AM.
