Hertfordshire and Essex-based Charvills Group is cutting 24 jobs in a company-wide streamlining exercise.

The redundancies are at all levels. The company will continue to trade from its five sites in Hoddesdon, Ware, Hertford, Harlow and Bishops Stortford.

Managing director John Charvill is reported in the Hertfordshire Mercury, saying: “We are just trimming down the non-profit-making departments.”

Eight posts are being axed at the head office and Vauxhall dealership in Ware, and three at its Hertford Mazda site. Jobs will also go at the group’s other dealerships: six from Hoddesdon, five from Harlow and two from Bishop’s Stortford.

Bishop’s Stortford Vauxhall will be relocated later this month, creating an opportunity to add a second franchise.

The family-owned group, which operates Vauxhall, Citroën, Mazda and Hyundai franchises has been established since 1946.
