In less than seven years since its commercial launch in September 1998, the five millionth Peugeot 206 has rolled off the production line, at the Mulhouse factory in France.

A version of the recently introduced 206 CC HDi takes the honour as the five millionth 206 and is destined for the German market.

The only other Peugeot to reach the five million mark was the 205 back in the mid 90s, but it took 15 years to reach this milestone.

Over 3,100 206s are produced daily in six production sites – Mulhouse and Poissy in France, Ryton in the UK, Porto Real in Brazil, Buenos Aires in Argentina and Khodro in Iran.
